hi everyone. I just want to seek advice from you guys. I am suffering from Bipolar disorder , anxiety and brain fog. The brain fog really gets me down. I am a licensed nurse but gave it up because i have trouble concentrating and always anxious when I'm at the workplace. I also easily get confused and i cant recall immediate facts easily. So that left me jobless, scared, frustrated and depressed.
Every time I try something new, I always fail. I can't seem to accomplish what I want. I attended two schools for an education course but it didn't work out because I left. I didn't finish it because of severe brain fog and anxiety. I also tried jewelry and beads making seminar. Again, it didn't work out. That's just so embarrassing to other people. Seeing you act weird. They just don't know what's going on.
Right now, I am not depressed, not anxious. I kinda learned how to accept my limitations you know? But now, I'm torn. I wanted to try baking. I saw this workshop on the internet and I wanted to attend. it's from 10am-4pm i think. And the goal is to finish 7 cup cakes on that span of time.. My mom said that the one who will teach teach the students will teach at a rapid phase because of the limited amount of time. We have to finish baking 7 cupcakes by 4pm.
I'm just wondering, can I cope with the rapid phase? The receptionist said that we will be given handouts. ( As far as I know the ingredients and the directions is written on the handouts) This is what I'm thinking, the hand outs will save me from panicking. I can read and re-read the instructions there so I won't get confused. Am I making sense?
Do you think I should go? It traumatizes me every time I fail. It is a blow in my self esteem!
Should I try or not?
PLEASE HELP!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

You are setting yourself up for failure with your negative thoughts. Set yourself up for success with positive affirmations.
I understand about the brain fog. It's a way of life for me. If I act nuts in front of others, I console myself by determining they are just as nutty as me.
Now you tell yourself...
I CAN make cupcakes in six hours. I can make the BEST cupcakes in six hours. I will have my notes. I will have a great time. If my cupcakes are zany, all the better, I will have the zaniest cupcakes.
Sounds like a great day. Nothing to do with failing, just having a good time.
Just Do It!! Good Luck and let me know how it goes for you. Belle.
Cupcakes don't take too long to bake so I'm guessing there will be step by step instructions...
Give yourself a lot of credit for getting out there and trying different things.. That takes courage and kudos to you!!
I admire that type of courage...xo
I changed my mind. Instead of attending the cupcake workshop which will take 6 hours, I attended the sansrival baking demo which only lasted for 2 hours. The only thing that we did was to watch the instructor demonstrate and put icing on the meringue and topped it with nuts. its pretty light but I sensed that I am feeling nervous while putting icing on the cake. I have a partner. I feel conscious. I feel like she's looking at my work and criticizing me!
but I am glad I survived the baking workshop. Should I sign up for the next baking class which include making brownies and bars? It will be a demo too. I wonder. should I gradually expose myself to this kind of thing?
When I told my dad about feeling nervous he said the cause of it may be related on my confidence level on myself. He said I need to build up my confidence. I feel like its true. I need to work on myself gradually so I can face the world and be happy.
I knew you could do it. Way to go!!!
Yes, you should take the next one. You are going to be one fine cook. Okay, I live in Alabama. If I was going to come for dinner, how long would it take me to drive to the Philipines?? LOL!! Joke!!
Just one more thing. We are all nervous when we try something new. It's the fear of the unknown. I have to really push myself into trying new things and I am much older than you.
You keep on working it girl. I know you will be a huge success.
plus healthy eating! if you do that, and maybe even find a therapist that is $0-low cost, or sliding scale.. or covered by insurance, at least mostly...
i think you could do pretty much whatever you want. i think you'd be set to handle just a little more of a load, once you are rock steady on your foundation, and you've only tried to do things one small project at a time, while your ready-
that's kinda why i am just setting myself up right now, making a schedule. it will take time
sorry i didn't read any replies before i wrote.
take care! xo
