Which it's mostly spent I owe my kids money. BIG money.
I just thought it odd that the government wouldn't encourage saving like it says it does.
I got a large SSDI settlement last year, and most of it is sitting in a savings in my fathers name. I am saving to buy a condo through HUD and need about $6000 more.
Technically, he is my payee, and it is his job to make sure my needs are taken care of. So this is his way of making sure I do not spend the money.
Don't know that much about the money side of SSDI but I know many of my clients use trust funds to stash away money to keep their SSDI.
Do you need a car & or insurance!! bills are a necessity get out from under perhaps...
Maybe savings bonds?
