Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Some people in my family used to tell me to pray and start eating at the beginning of my last episode then backed off when they saw how sick i got...
more and more im seeing my bp as a medical condition, it makes it not so scary, thats helped me educate family about it.
I dont know if this helps but things like that (for me ) are starting to get easier. Im not embarrased, just hurt by a couple of peoples reactions because they are ignorant.
After my first posts on April 26th asking about is this a manic episode, I had an emergency meeting with my psychiatris. He added the Zyprexa to my current regimen of Wellbutrin, but on Thursday it got so bad that I called the the crisis center and they sent an ambulance to me.
Thinking thinking that in August of 2006 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and in December 2007 I was fired. So time is the time my life that everything was falling apart.
So I guess my second diagnosis would have been Wednesday, April 27,2012. The differences this time I realize I need to stay on medication, that I need to get better care of myself, and continue therapy and treatment.
But that is only true sometimes and I am glad that my family knows this. It would have been too hard me to hide this and now I can be honest when I am having a bad day and they want me to visit.
How many pp go to the hospital from April 27 to now for a disease that praying and eating right can make you recover from?
Most people who hear about BPers only heare about the really scary pp who are BP you need to explain not all BP people are like that.
Sometimes you just cant get people to "get it" and just have to lean back and let it roll off your shoulders. Getting upset will only upset YOU.
Remember you got US :) !!!!
I have only told a few close friends the dx, and I will tell my docors. Right now I know I'm reading a book on bp. As long as I get my dx that's all that matters!!!
It's kind of frustrating when family members reject what you tell them about the illness and instead suggest simple remedies that they think will 'cure' you when, in reality, they won't help one, little bit.
I hope your family will 'be there' for you in the way that you want and need!!!!
Sheesh!!! Sorry you're dealing with MS as well as the BP. I hope that you do well in spite of the double whammy!!!! (((((Hugs)))))
