Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I cannot find a support network. A lot of this is self created since I have a hard time maintaining connections due to my depression, and my mania. I get too preoccupied.
I am married, legally, but not emotionally. My husband always gets angry at me when I am depressed and adds all this guilt. I can't explain the lows to anyone in a way they would understand. It hurts to breath. I understand why people throw themselves off bridges. I can't do that because I know what people who commit suicide leave behind but I feel that.
I have tried to find the right therapist and I know I have walked myself right over cognitive therapy as an option because it never seems to get to the marrow. I am a bit of an elitist when it comes to picking a therapist I don't want to muck about
I see a psychiatrist and he prescribes my medication and I am mostly stable for the most part.
i spent the past two days crying in bed just wanting the pain to stop as my husband did nothing other than be angry at me. He can't even keep the kids away and I hate that. Why can't he just let me grieve and heal without having to pretend I am not crying and spring to life to cook meals and correct school work? (No support network.)
I then started to shop online with insomnia and no impulse control and I ordered all this stuff for my kids' elves on the shelves for Christmas. It all makes sense to me and I am really excited about it but I know what it is.
I just wanted someone else who knows to say they know.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo
Yes finding a good therapist is not easy, if you have a good psy dr, perhaps ask for a referral, when I feel so badly, well I just don't know what I'd do with no therapist to talk to as I live alone. As for your Husband bringing the kids to you, that might be good, not easy, but good to help you move those muscles and that changes your thoughts. Oh, maybe hide those credit cards...I'm still paying off a 12,000 bill from my last manic spend!
Best to you :)
However Goat it doesn't sound like you're stable right now.... If you're over shopping... crying and can't sleep it sounds like your state is maybe mixed??
I would call your psychiatrist tomorrow.... You may need a med tweak..... If you can get hold of your pdoc you might? want to go to emerg
Big hug.... This is a good place to come... I'm glad that you're here......xo
If only someone could explain why we feel the way we do so they understand. Big hugs.
With the support network I have recently learned that I need to get back to my self-care. A few years ago I started playing racquetball with a group to be more social. I love to trail run but would spend "too much" time working out alone. I found my limits of racquetball and although I want to play more (great, great group of friends) and am happy when I play I have to limit myself. I still have to connect with who I am- bipolar and all which means time alone in the mountains along with spending time with others. I have also had more success with a good support group than with a therapist.
