So, I'm off school and doing a reading challenge with some friends from university. Wondering what good books you have read lately or what books you would recommend? I've had enough of Shakespeare for a bit (read 5 plays in the last week). Anything other than Shakespeare sounds good to me ;)

I finished this book "Every Man Dies Alone" by Hans Fallada not that long ago. It's about an ordinary couple in Germany that begin to passively resist the Nazi regime after their son is killed in action.

Not sure if these types of books would appeal to you but I enjoy the true crime genre, especially Anne Rule. She used to be a police officer in the 60's, must be close to 80 now but still publishes regularly and is one of the top writers in these types of books. "The Stranger Beside Me" is a classic, it's about the hunt for serial killer Ted Bundy whom she actually worked in a crisis center with. Other notable books by her are "Small Sacrifices" and "The End of the Dream". Great books to read in the tub or at the beach.

I don't watch tv very much but I happened to catch an episode of Game of Thrones and became absolutely hooked on the series. The books are supposed to be even better. You can buy the box set or if you watch the series you can buy the books individually.

Personally I'm about to begin a book about former president's Theodore Roosevelt's journey to the Amazon, it's called "The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey". I took a trip there an am really excited to start this, just waiting for the head to clear.
