As some of you know, my husband was awarded his disability last week. Of course I have tons of questions about how all this works that I have been asking everybody about.

Has anyone that has been awarded full benefits been able to get their student loans written off? If so how hard was it and what was involved? He has about 7 or 8 thousand in loans left and it would be very helpful to get those adjusted off and not have that worry anymore.

Any advice would be great!

As soon as I find the number I am supposed to be calling to have mine written off will let you know but yes with doctor verification those on full ride can get the loans written off

I would check to see if you can file bankruptsy to sign off the loans and spend enough of the money to leave you only enough for the lawyer fees.

Pull it out of the bank before you get it taken or reposessed.

You can't file bankruptcy on student loans. The only way you can get pardoned from them is with a life long disability.

We are going to be filing bankruptcy hopefully in the next few months before we get the settlement.
