I am Bipolar type 1 but it seems that since I've been on meds, I only get depressed. The last time I got hypomanic was when I was taking them inconsistently and got more spontaneous and aggressive. But anyways about my depression..it's been about 2 months that I've been feeling this way and it sucks. I sleep 14-16 hours on the days I don't have to get up for meetings/work/etc. and I feel like a lazy turd. My counselor says I am too hard on myself because I actually do a lot. I just wanna give up sometimes.
My friends tell me I should talk to my psychiatrist and ask if he can put me on different meds or increase my dosage but I don't wanna keep doing that. I've already gone from 200 mg (which I was very unstable on) to 300 mg of Lamitrogine and from 2.5 mg of Abilify to 10 mg. I don't want to keep going higher and higher because I don't think that's the solution. And I asked my psychiatrist about different medications I can go on but he didn't recommend them because they are weight gainers and I have a friend who gained 20 lbs from Risperidone (sp?) even though she tried to keep it off by working out twice a day and dieting.
I don't know what to do. I know exercise helps and I work out like twice a week but I guess you have to do it regularly for it to really help? Any advice helps, really. Thanks guys.

and it doesn't really disrupt my life. I've used risperdal/risperidone in the past with no weight gain but that doesn't translate into how it would react for you. I encourage you to set your own realistic goals and work toward them.
