Hey guys. I am interested in taking a very part time job..............one or two days a week, but am concerned whether SSA would then try to cut my check off. Do any of you work and draw SSDI? I hear you are allowed to make so much, but the SSA is the government and I don't trust 'em!! I don't know that I am going to physically or mentally be able to work at all, but need to try in order to make ends meet in the middle. Thanks!!

I believe SSD is the same as SSDI. What was your experience with that, Raven?

On SSD you can make an xtra 925 a month and not get penalized but see SSD is not based on income were SSDI is so that is why I am unsure if the guidelines are the same

I think we're getting confused between SSD and SSI. I used to receive SSD and you are allowed to earn a certain amount or work for a period of time before it affects your benefit amount.
Go to http://www.socialsecurity.gov/ and check it out.

Zany you could talk to someone at vocational rehabilitation about part time work. They should know the rules.

I read this on the Soc. Sec. site. For 2010 you can make $1000/month without affecting your SSDI benefits. Sorry, I don't have the link.

My research has shown that you can work full time and get full benefits for 8 months,if you are doing well with work then they will stop the benefits at that time, In other words it's an incentive to move people off of disability if possible and back into the working sector. I know this because I am back at work full time.

If Im correct you are allowed to work but there is a maximum amount of money you can make.

I am on SSDI..I'm not sure what SSA is or how SSD works in regards to working.

I do know ,if you are on SSDI ,Social Security Disability Insurance..you can work part time.

I worked 15 hours a week and was making about 11 dollars an hour,without penelty or loseing any of my SSDI benifits.

To make sure you are not going over the amount ,allowed for work monies earned..call your local SS office ,and they can tell you exactly how much you can make , gross earnings a month.
