I use lithium (stabilizer) and it keeps me out of any kind of mania.

Same here - Lithium, but things can still set me off like any kind of drug that can make a person hyper - even caffeine. I've never spent 3k at a go though - that's some pretty serious cash.

I hope you'll get some help before you get too far into debt.

Having read the other two posts so far and now this one, I just wanna send (((hugs))) and wish you well.

When I get that way, I've had to give up my cards, all money except a small bit of cash, to my husband so I don't spend all the money.

I don't know if there's anyone who can have your back like that?

I used to make a lot of money and spend it like that until I got totally broke...i'd go on spending binges like mad.......

This disorder is so hard on us.

When mania is spent (no pun intended) I try to make sure I have no cash/debit card/check book that I can easily get to even if it means putting my money in an account that has no checks etc. and I have to physically go to the bank, when open, to retrieve funds from it. Covers me on a weekend at least. I have never plunked down that much at one time, but have plunked down more than I can afford before.

Why not return some of the things? That will help some. Also see your pdoc about a mood stabilizer.

I can't do credit cards anymore only debit and if I was to become very unwell again I would give them to someone l trust so I was unable to bankrupt myself...again.

Please see your pdoc for some help mania is bad enough but I always crash after and for me the higher the mania the lower the fall after.

I no longer have credit cards, check books or a debit card only an ATM card that only allows me to withdraw $300.00 a day. This helps me keep my spending under control. So I can no longer shop online and I can't swipe any cards at a store. I am not to be trusted with myself until I'm certain my mania is under control. I'm very pleased with this arrangement while testing out my new mood stabilizer.

You need probably a couple mood stabilizers. I am on depakote and Lithium. I tend to get pretty manic more than depressed. I am hypomanic right now and working on getting back down. Good Luck maybe you can return those items, sweetie.

Return them all. save the $.....Use the $ wisely. You may not always have $$$$. Bipolar has a way of financially humbling many. Me included.
