Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
try to take down the stress as much as possible and i pray to Christ for this if it gets really bad. i usually just do this first thing, but i just have to try and calm down and have empathy for myself when this happens.
it's a lot better lately and haven't been having as many, i would say almost none lately.
i try to remove the things that are causing way too much stress and just calm down, breathe, simplify and have understanding for myself.
i'll watch comedy central, or a movie. or just relax and be to myself.
i picture white light coming in through my center and around my heart and from the whole midline of my body. i try to feel as much love for myself as possible.
some will say maybe you need a med tweak, i am sure. this could be? all those healthy things, especially exercise and less caffeine (?) and just taking it easy are all good things.
Do you find them fearful and feel the need to push them far away because you are horrified by what they are about and you can't stand the idea that you could ever HAVE such thoughts in the first place?!
Or are they horrible thoughts that you think might actually come true?
Some people have troublesome, intrusive thoughts that involve horrifying behavior on their part!! Although the thoughts keep coming, they are things the person would never really do. All kinds or really terrible things. Harming or killing their children. Things like that.
The scary part comes from fearing that you wouldn't be having them unless you were capable of doing them. But that's not true.
If you are having those types of thoughts, once you know that they don't really 'mean' what they seem to imply, or mean anything 'bad' whatsoever, they tend to not be anywhere near as upsetting.
But if the kinds of thoughts you are talking about sound as though they are far, far worse than the type I'm talking about, definitely turn to the Pdoc and tell him or her about them.
Many people are greatly helped by med tweaks!!
I'm sorry you're having unwelcome thoughts!!! I hope you find an easy way to banish them!!! (((((Hugs)))))
i do get thoughts and visions that deeply trouble me (comes w/ the territory w/`combat' ptsd), and i use my EMDR techniques to get through them and get them out of my head.
if it happens a lot, it is something to talk to your pdoc about.
sometimes it feels like some kind of bizarre augmented reality where i`m not sure if things have actually happened or not... the ensuing purgatory kinda sucks :(
upon stress, I pop an 25mg hydrOXYzine & drink 1/2 cup of Hot
coffee ( decaf ). I drink hot nor warm coffee to get med into my system fater than normalsome times inaddition to poping a pill I will put on head set ( music ) to get my mind to focus on music or I will lay down & turn tv volume up to drown out surrounding nosie.
I also have a support person who I can call on. She a good listener & she manages to get my mind to slow & refocus.
People take med's to feel, see thing that we take meds to prevent what they want to have. USA being #1 of import of illegal drugs.
Doing those things work pretty well for me....and then there are times that I tell Will about what I am thinking and he helps me work through them and put things into perspective. Being able to lean on someone during rough times helps alot.
