Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Ehh, every kid wants to be with their mother. It doesn't matter HOW much better the other environment is. Even if she doesn't like how being with you as things are right now, she almost undoubtedly wishes that she could be with you and everything be all right.
I don't think a girl crying because she can't be with her mother is a 'manipulation tactic.' I think it's a perfectly natural way for her to feel.
The school may be the best place for her but I don't like the fact that they think she's just fine and dandy and didn't wish that she could live with her mother instead of in school. I would think they would have a better understanding of just what she's going through.
It must be horrible not to be able to provide the environment that your daughter needs. I wish neither of you were going through this. (((((Hugs)))))
I agree that it probably is natural what she is feeling. But I don't think opening a car door and threatening to jump is natural for a kid no matter the circumstance.
You are right carla and I did tell the school. They are putting her in the health center and having the psychologist talk to her tomorrow. I'll be calling the psychologist as well.
I wish I could do something more but right now I just have a feeling the school is a better place for her even if she wishes she was home. I wish she was here too, I just wish I was healthy enough to have my kids full time. But just having them a week is so hard on me. It takes me three days to recover from the stress.
I wouldn't say the school is completely blind to it. They do know what kids go through but I think the point was to convince me that my daughter will be fine if I keep her there.
And I know she is very dramatic. Every thing is a freak out for her. But I'm just not sure what her limits are. She just might end up hurting herself by accident when she goes to far. But even if I took her home this is a personality trait of hers it won't change just because she is home. She has always been dramatic.
I know my limits I just worry so much and worry about whether I'm making the right choice for her. I can understand how children want their mothers. And I understand why she would want to come home after all it's bound to be more appealing with a mother that has no structure vs a school that is very structured.
