I don't know how I feel about it. I found the role of the girl closer to a "truth" than him but what do I know? I'm bipolar... lol

Bipolar Disorder manifests in so many different ways.

I don't think it would be possible to have one (or two) characters give an accurate and true representation of ALL of us.

But I'm sure that MANY found the portrayals in SLP very relatable.

I did not like that movie.

It was more of a love affair than it was about bipolar disorder.

I did not think it was accurate.

I have worse depressions, too.

I also didn't think it was too accurate. I tend to get more depressed than manic but I guess it's accurate for people who are more on the manic end of things.

Ok coming from the manic end myself I felt it to be a bit overplayed... but hey that's because I am ruled by having to control myself anyway so I couldn't relate to his character but she seemed more BP than him which made me scratch my head! lol Oh well- to me it was a movie and nothing I thought would enlighten people about mental illness or bipolar etc...

Now One Who Flew was pretty accurate in the portrayal of institutions. Well, at least close to the ones I was in as a teen.

I think it was a movie, that opened mega discussion on bipolar - the love story? NO one lives happily ever after, that the movie ended with two people having fun and possibly sex - I found realistic : )

It was not a Bipolar diagnoses - it was a entertaining taste, staying up all night, hating meds, going to jail, living with family, doing things you don't want too....

To put more into a movie, well its a MOVIE! That won so many awards, Bipolar was discussed on every channel including CNN for months - I think it was great : ) imho

Guess I missed the media hoopla! Too busy with my own!! LOL
