my former housemate, my sister's ex, was a horrible irresponsible dog owner, he refused to spend any time training his puppy beyond the bare minimum, fed her expensive organic dog food to maintain her health, but was too stupid to keep her shots up to date. irresponsible and didn't have her spayed, too lazy to walk her regularly (catahoula mixes are not meant to be indoor dogs), and because he wasn't working he spent all his time with her on the couch so never acclimated her to being alone, he was with her nearly 24/7. now he's dumped her on my sister who cannot take care of her. she really is a good dog, but has terrible separation anxiety and tears up the apartment when no one is there to give her attention, because my sister works long hours she's not there to give her attention and i'm not home right now either. we really don't know what to do. there's no room at the no-kill shelters and we refuse to take her back to the city pound. the catahoula rescue cannot accept guardian surrendered dogs right now, and no one we've contacted in the local fostering community has room for her and we really can't keep her. does anyone have any suggestions? she's got boundless energy and is so sweet tempered and fast to learn that i know with training and attention she'd make an excellent companion.
