100 mg of seroquel at bedtime has worked for me for years. Only thing I don't like is the hunger at bedtime.

Is the zyprexa not working as well? Why the thoughts on a change?

I don’t know weight gain and been having bad mood swings. Not helping me sleep like it used to I wake up in a panic, thoughts all over. I’m also on lamotrigine.

I've been on Seroquel for years.....225 mg..... I've put on weight with it which I hate... I'm always famished....sigh.... BUT it works well for me....xo

Does it help with depression too?

Zyprexa made me gain 70lbs but it’s worked. Seroqueal suppressed my appetite and I looked anorexic because I couldn’t eat and it didn’t help my mood

It has helped me with depression along with a mood stabilizer … Tegretol

Yup. We all react so differently to mess so it’s hard to say what might work.

had a severe manic episode on seroquel spent 30 or 40 thousand dollars in about 3 months the doctor took me off and i came back down
helped me to sleep but, had zero awareness mind clouded i did not think of being bipolar went off meds just did not pick them up so now i have been off for years not stabilized but not that bad hypomanic and mild depression with zyprexa and lamictal fairly stable

Although Seroquel and Zypexa are both Anti-psychotic meds they don't work the same on every person. Seroquel has a side effect of weight gain for most people who use it. As for it's help with sleep, that's only in it's lower dosage range of 25 -100 mg and it's a side effect that wears off the longer you use it. The typical pharmaceutical dose of Seroquel for BiPolar is 200 - 400mg per day and at that dose there is no sleep help.

Seroquel is for more for the hypo-manic/anxious side of BiPolar as opposed to the depressed side. If you have issues with Depression there's not much in a Lamictal/Seroquel combo that will help with that, most likely.

I haven't been on it too long, but I workout daily because of all the medications that I am on, but I really like Seroquel. My Doctor and Psychiatrist have me on it now for almost 3 months and it really helps me sleep like a baby. Especially because the newly started Abilify I am on (10mg) gives me insomnia.

My brother stated it did make him snacky, but I keep on hand healthy high fiber snacks and yogurt to keep me full.
