The other day I was driving home when I noticed two birds flying above and had to do a double take. One was a large hawk flying gracefully, the other a much smaller bird flying around the hawk as if it was drunk. At first I wondered what small bird would have the balls to fly so close to a hawk, but as I got closer I realized what was what. The smaller bird was a baby hawk, and judging by it's lack of skill, getting its first flying lesson fom mom.
I thought this was adorable, especially when mom tried to show junior how to make a sharp turn and baby flew smack into her tail feathers.

Another example is the foxes that have made a den just outside my backyard. Last summer there came a new set of little ones, are they called kits? not sure, but anyway... Listening to the babies grow is a constant amusement. The first time we got snow they were "barking" up a storm and pouncing at the flakes like "Ma!! Ma!! Look at this!! WTF, this is awesome!!"
Around here, when a hawk flies by, all the little black birds swoop in and attack it.
The hawk is more powerful, but the little birds are more agile and can get out of the way
It's kind of funny watching the little birds take on the hawk
Foxes...how too cute!! I would like to put food out for the wildlife here but I know the neighbors will have a coronary!!
