I've sorta been in a really bad place mentally today. I found myself just walking aimlessly around campus. On my way home I just impulsively decided to blow my money. These days that's my only vice. I tried to make it a good splurge and went grocery shopping. Usually I'm super stingy but when I'm in a mood like this I just want to spend and spend and spend. Almost spent my rent money but now my cupboards are pretty well stocked. Any other retail junkies in the house?

I'll get an idea in my head that I absolutely NEED a particular item and find anyway to buy it. And then I'm certain I'm gonna use the item for something and then a few days I'm like "why did I buy this?"

I've done that sooo many times. I once stocked up on magnetic earrings cos my ears aren't pierced. Never wore them and now they've disappeared.

I keep saying I'm gonna take up crocheting again but I never remember to buy the material. I'm getting a little healthier with my 'vices'. I just cooked out my frustration. A while back I'd be wasted. Maybe the mommy gene is taking over. And my dish was kinda healthy too. Yaay me. I'm maturing. Lol

My biggest trap is Ebay. I have bought 300 dollars worth of clothes through there this month. I have to stop this or I'm going to get in deep.

The only place to shop around where I live is small thrift stores (and maybe 2-3 larger "retail" shops. I get caught up in thrift store mentality - "Oh well, it's only $0.99, so I could get 6 of them!" And so it goes.

I was just officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder this morning and...wow...I had no idea that the disorder was the cause of my ridiculous spending "habits"!! If I'm on a "high", I am so ridiculously happy that I just want to buy stuff. If I'm on a "low", I buy ridiculous stuff to either make me feel better or "motivate" me into improving myself (which doesn't ever work, lol).

Lol, thanks! I learned a long time ago I couldn't have credit cards. I've gotten a lot better at managing my money but mostly because I live in a small town and really don't have the opportunity to shop like I use to.

I've been going over bank and credit card statements from last year and man I was so out of control! Overdrafting, interest charges, a complete mess!

Since I started to use a checkbook a few months ago I'm much better and I am more in control.

I have one credit card with around a 2K balance to pay off. (zero interest because I have always mangaged to keep my credit score high. That's my key to survival. I always know in the back of my mind that I have thousands I can borrow if push came to shove, especially since "we" can't get regular disability ins or LT care ins, both of which pay great by the way....

I'll have my place pd off in 10yrs, a pension, ss, and retirement funds. So I can go into debt if I really have to.....
