My mother has been going through a lot of things since my father died in January. She came across something I wrote over 20yrs ago for my grandmother when she died. I won't post the whole thing but at the end of it I added a quote that I found that I really liked and still do to this day. If anyone can identify the author of this quote please let me know. The quote is.."Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die." This quote was spoken at my grandmothers funeral and was part of my grieving process for her. It still brings a tear to my eye.

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep" is a poem written in 1932 by Mary Elizabeth Frye. Although the origin of the poem was disputed until later in her life, Mary Frye's authorship was confirmed in 1998 after research by Abigail Van Buren, a newspaper columnist.
This is the poem and history.....xo

I hope someone will read that at my memorial service.
I lost my Mom last March.
So I've gone through the first Thanksgiving, Chritstmas and Her birthday .... grief is a long process
dancingd, I know what you mean with the first holidays and birthdays without our loved one. Grieving is difference stages as we move forward. The times that got to me, were the unexpected ones. In store and I am thinking what does mom need or I need to pick this or that up for her; then it ''hits'' me. Like the first Mothers day, I picked up this pretty card and actually in line to pay, when it hit me.
Hugs to all here grieving for loved ones.
