I feel inspired when I do something for someone I don't know. Once, a was supposed to meet a friend and his new gf. I have different things from yards sales and decided to give her a dainty antique plate. On the way to B & N he called and said that they couldn't come. (they were breaking up- an internet relationship thing; total disaster).
Anyhow, I went to the bookstore myself. There were three ladies at a table. I asked them what their birthdays were (just month and day). Of course they hesitated and tried to figure out if I was up to something. Somehow I got them to play along. I gave the gift to the one with the most recent BD. She was so happy! I felt an increased self-esteem.

Another time I was behind a lady in a thrift store and she was buying a necklace. I told the sales girl that I would pay for it. The woman was overjoyed and she said under her breath "I should have gotten the other one" (more money) I was so caught up in the strength it took to do this that I didn't realize she'd really wanted a different one more (I would have obliged- I think)
