I recently read a post about whether or not medical marijuana was a viable treatment option for those suffering from BD. This thread was promptly "closed" and I was wondering why. I looked at the poster's profile and discovered that she was a 14 year old girl. Is that the reason the thread was nixed? Or is there a policy on DS regarding drugs that I am unaware of? I went back and read the rules about posting and could not find anywhere where it said that discussion regarding drugs other than "meds" or OTC medications was forbidden. I know that DS is considered an "adult" site, and I was hoping the thread was only deleted because the poster was a minor. It isn't that I am wishing to have conversations on DS regarding recreational drug use or anything of that nature, but ANY treatment for BD, even those that might seem ridiculous to most of us, are of interest to me, and I would also be interested to know what others think about this as well. (I am talking about treatment options here and not self medicating to cope with mental illness.) There is a theroy now that micro doses of LSD are helpful in the treatment of depressive disorders because of the stimulations to the brain it causes that effect our synapse responses. There are no definitive studies to demonstrate this is true, but I am still interested to know what other people think of such non-traditional treatment methods. I hope this is not considered an offensive or inappropriate post. I have only been a member of DS for several weeks now, and it is very possible that I just don't fully understand what is considered a viable topic for conversation and what is not.
