Question about side effect

Hi All


I am bipolar, of course. I never felt depressed like i have been. I been on Gabapentin for anxiety and i have a suspision its from that? Anyone heatd of depression as a side efftect? My pharmacist said its one. I dont know why i think its this causing it.

I would address this with your doctor if you think the Gaba may be causing it.... You should probably come off of it if that's the case however I would work with your pdoc in deciding what to do and how to do it

I asked my doctor he said no. But doing research I found it’s a side effect, just wondering if anyone had this.

Here is a bit of info..... I'm never quite sure online...... Gaba triggers an unusual side effect for me which is panic and it's apparently unusual.... I don't know if it's my cocktail or what but I'm sure that it's that as well

I seldom take it anymore.... Very occasionally if I can't sleep..... Big hug

Well I was prescribed it for anxiety, but it makes me feel sedated. I was on 900 a day, then my doctor lowered it to 300. I only took half of the 100 today and try to wean myself off. My doctor added Prozac Monday to my meds for depression. I am hoping the depression is def a side effect of this crap.

I'm not sure why you would be RX'd Gaba for Anxiety...it's not made for that, and is not used for off-label for that.

As for weaning yourself off, you shouldn't do that without your Pdoc's guidance, especially with being on other meds,

Depression is a possible side effect of Gaba. Its an Anti-seizure med and is used off-label for Nerve pain. So hopefully when your off of it, your Depression will subside.

Gabapentin works good with me because I already take an AD. Usually it is prescribed for pain, anxiety, and might have some stability effects.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
