I was recently hospitalized for thoughts of self inhury. I was also having a manic epsidode and i was behaving im a dangherous way. My manic epsido lasted for about three weeks. A week before the hospitial and two week after. At the end of the manic episode i felt like I came down from this high. My parents even referd me as a delussional because I was so bound and determined to be with a guy and waseven willing to be thrown out of my paretns house for it. i thought everything would was going to be wonderful with this guy and saw nothing wrong with what i was doing.
I am currently taking Lexapro for depression, and lithium and anti anxiety meds. I have been having a hard time sleeping for a about a week. I get about 4 hours. I go back to dr friday to make sure the lithium does is good. DO i sound bipolar? I am planning to ask my dr. Do i sound delusional? I appreciate any advice i get. Thank you.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

If you are on lithium then as far as I am aware, that is not used for treatment other than for bipolar.
However, if the only evidence of "mania" is being delusional in wanting to be with a guy then that is an odd definition of mania.
You need to talk to your doctor to confirm.
If you are sure you had real mania and it was not as the result of drugs, brain injury or medication ..plus you are being treated with lithium then it looks as if the doctor at least is convinced.
Good luck.
People are prone to extra cycling when they don't sleep.
Sometimes the sleeping problem is due to the natural light increases as spring and summer approach. Sometimes it is just due to a person who won't get on a routine. I would go to the doctor, get the sleep issues addressed and get on a routine.
If you cut out alcohol/drugs (if you do any), have a winding down period each night, eat your last meal and then if you must only have a light snack before bed, make sure the room you sleep in is a the right temp/ and is dark, stop the caffeine around 2 PM daily, maybe drink hot milk or tea before bed if that soothes you, take a soothing bath before bed to help your body relax.
I would do the above and then if you need extra help a PRN most of the time will help a person ease into sleep. Sounds like you already have some.
My dr and therapist both think it is bipolar disorder. I think so to from reading i have done and the symptoms I have shown. I am not taking drugs or alcohol and do not have a brain injury or any other health problems.I was diagnoised as havimng major depression.
I seem to not be able to handle stress very well right now, I have been this way for a long time. Are you all able to hold down a job? I am unemployed right now , I am also legaly blind so i have trouble wit hthat as well.
For instance I won't be able to work shift work since it would alter my sleep routine. I would have to have breaks every 2 hours or so--so I could process any triggers or strong emotions. People can really make me nervous (unless they have empathy in some way either by having an experience similar to mine or just naturally have it..and we know that is just a portion of who is out there). I would like to do something that works with my strengths.
Do you have a PRN med for anxiety like ativan or kolonopin? This type of med is what I am talking about for use if your thoughts are not settling down before sleep. I helps me tremendously but of course I use my skills first. I think meds should be used mindfully.
The doctor will be able to tell you what is going on. But again I want to say that skills have been just as important for me as meds have been. A med can't make life perfect it can only go so far. The rest of it is up to you.
