I have a goal. I want to be a psychiatrist very badly. Yet the time to start school has been so agonizing that my feelings for certain persons around me got the better of me. Now all said individuals have been severed from my heart and I am left alone yet again. The problem at hand is a fear of commitment to either of them. I don't want to give myself until I feel like I've done something of merit. This attitude has ruined many things it feels, but none the less I feel it right. This post isn't really asking for anything from anyone, only encouraging everyone to keep fighting regardless. When the evil weight of depression bear down or the allure of mania tantalizes to the point of danger, look at that goal and grit your teeth and keep moving.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

hang in there Chuggs and keep fighting!
Hope you are good at chemistry, calculus, biology, and physics.
My college was known for it's disabled student services, especially for the blind. I hope yours is good in that area too and you can find some support. It is ok to need help. You would be surprised at some of the considerations you can get like first choice in classes, half-time schedule counting as full-time for financial aid reasons, and extra time for assignments and tests.
Please look into this. This will help you on your road to success.
Also, have you considered volunteer work to help you feel like you are giving back? Maybe even volunteering at the DSS (disabled student services)?

You can do ther things, psychotherapy etc but again they need training..as does counselling.
But if your heart is set on psychiatry go for it. Remember Kay Jaimson was BP and a psychiatrist (but she may have been an academic rather than practicing).
Good luck, remain stradfast and all that :)
Very happy to see you back...missed you bunches!
