Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Its aggervating that no matter what you do in life people will talk and talk and talk about you. For me I have been at this university for 10 years working. Let me tell you its accomplishment to have worked here so long. For 90 % of my expereince here I was unmedicated. Then went on Meds for 4 years and now I have been off meds for awhile and doing great. I have grown a lot here. But I have become more and more withdrawn. I don't like hanging out outside of work because I tried that. Having martinis with mangaers and all they do is judge me. I don't have facebook so someone came up to me and was like you have no friends. They here I am in a relationship there shocked. I guess its that I have the cross me once policy. If you act like an ass then I see that as a sign to not associate myself with you. Besides its just work. I do my job and help my students and go home. I am 31 and feel like I am 60 from the life lessons I learned from here. I just like to keep my personal life PERSONAL. Since I have become withdrawn now they all want to know why I am so quiet. Why am I not socializing. Sometimes I feel like saying well I have numerous reasons. Thank God I can hide in my office and work with students all day. I am just venting. Seriously, if your burned once from anyone run. I been burned with these people. Don't get me wrong I have been blessed to here. But finally I am comfortable and me being quiet from the politics is the smartest thing. I am just venting. LOL thanks if anyone read. Seriously Bipolar I and making here 10 years with the HS bull shit. Is truly EPIC

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

If someone notices that you're being particularly quiet perhaps they're concerned? or care?... is that possible?... Big hug....xo
I'm familiar with the sort of aggravation you're experiencing at work. About your meds... do you think (or does your Doc think) becoming withdrawn has anything to do with going off meds? Did your Doc take you off? When things got weird for me at work, I did the same thing. But I think I sort of became known as antisocial, or as a recluse. Knowing what I know now, I think I would have stayed engaged as much as possible, know that I might have been able to have a positive impact on some of the people I would have seen regularly had I now retreated. We differed so much on politics, religion, methods, ethics etc. it was easy to leave them in the dust socially, but I suppose I may have been the only voice of reason for some of them. I at least could have open discussions and kept things interesting. Have you brought up your frustrations with those who have hurt you? Or have you seen a supervisor about this?
Unfortunately in any kind of "Service" position where you have to work with people, they want you to be more outgoing. So after many attempts to try to force me to be more outgoing with staff and such, and me basically saying, leave me the hell alone, I'm here to work, I do that then I go home.
It got to a point where we all agreed it was better to not work there. Got a really good severance package, but lost a really good job that I put 10 yrs. of my life into, because in the end, I was not willing to budge....
You're at a University, I imagine they expect a certain amount of outgoing-ness from you, I'd just advise to not be too adversary in your quest to be alone. It can always come down to people thinking your not right for the job anymore and that really sucks when you've put so much of yourself into a position.
Take care,
