p-doc hopping

I just recently got a psychiatrist for my son and I like this doctor oodles more than the one I have and want to ask him to take me on. Ironically, both him and the doctor I see now work in the same office. The one I'm with looks at me like I'm crazy when I describe my symptoms (funny, huh, but who needs it?), and he poopoo's me when I tell him I'm depressed (because I'm not suicidal). I feel weird about switching doctors that work in the same office, but I think I would feel tons more comfortable with my son's p-doc. Would you go for it?

I wouldn't stay with a pdoc that I am not comfortable with, I had one before who misdiagnosed me at first and changed him for another one, he was way not understanding and wanted always to get the session done his own way, now since I moved to the new one, she managed to diagnose me finally, put me on the meds and manage it with me, she listens and never treats my smallest shifts carelessly, I think you better move if you feel better with the new one...

If you don't like the one you have get a new one. Who cares if they work in the same office. If they are professionals they should know that not everyone is going to gel with a particular person. It should be fine.

go for it. but from experience i must warn you that since they are from the same practice you may need the blessing of your current pdoc.which i think is stupid

hard to find a good one, so why not give this other one a try. its like comparitive shopping

Definitely. I did the same thing blindly, knowing the dr. I had just completely wasn't getting it, with me, anyway. Turned out, the one I have now (in the same office) is the best one I've ever met. If you find you don't mesh well with that one, keep looking. It's worth it.
