Over the counter Cold meds

I've got the worse illness from hell. My daughter was sick and I had my children home for a visit this week end.

Well I caught her cold and since I have practically no immune system I feel like crap. I don't know if it was the cold or the medications I'm taking to alleviate symptoms but I was so ill earlier today that I was dizzy and hit the curb on the street parking and beeped my horn when I slipped.

I scared the shit out of the poor guy sitting in his car in front of me. Then I stumbled back into my house. I'm sure I looked quite drunk but I was just that sick. I didn't even want to leave my house but I had no choice since I have no food and I drank all the tea. I was so thirsty and I needed something to drink so bad!

Any one else have problems similar to this? Is it a drug interaction or was I that sick!?

I know Sudefed is a major problem for most bipolar people ...I take Benadryl for cold s

Talk to a good Pharmacist about what cold meds are ok.

Your stumbling and stuff could very well be a med interreaction

I was taking the generic of dayquil.

I stopped taking meds for awhile. It seemed like it got worse then better late in the day.

I'm not sure which it was. I know I had a really high fever, I was sweating so bad. I was scared I thought about going to the hospital but they're always kicking me out of that place.

I think Dayquill has the same basic ingredient Sudafed has...probably caused the reaction you had

Talk tp a Pharmacist as to what cold med should work w/o weird side effects

For cough take Delsym. It's the best cough med on the market. Congestion, if you don't want to take Sudafed, then benedryl would be suitable. But watch out, benedryl will make you sleepy. Then for the mucus, I would take musinex. it's active ingredient is an expectorant. It comes in a generic house label too. Sometimes the combination meds have things in them that aren't good for beepers, Find the products that treat one symptom at a time. You may be taking three OTC medications, but you will get the right stuff.

You need to be careful with anything that has pseudoephedrine - it will be listed on the ingredients.

If you think you are sensitive to these kinds of meds the chances are it is that ingredient that is causing a problem.

Sorry you are so ill.
I cant take any cold med. They all have a bad effect of some kind on me. It sucks i just have to ride it out.

could be either when i get sick i dont leave the house i jsut wait for it to go away i would think that it is the sick talkign at this point because of the immune system thing but i not sure if you dont need to leave and the cough stuff is making you better then i would go with the reaction because the cold will go away but it hard to tell without trail and error exspierowment

Cold medicines and my psych meds don't always work out well together. I usually have to cut back on meds, in one night, and then I might be able to take the cold medicine.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
