I'm just about to run out of my seroquel. I only take it at night to help me sleep, but I'm not sure if I can sleep without it. My pdoc told me to take my risperdal when I run out of seroquel (I don't have Rx coverage, so I can't afford more seroquel), but I'm not sure if the risperdal will be able to help me sleep as well as the seroquel does.
Anyone have experience with risperdal for sleep? Does it help? I'm able to take risperdal and function perfectly fine on it during the day...so I'm afraid that it won't help me sleep as well.

I take Invega which is in the Risperadal family at night. It helps me sleep just fine. Sometimes I think it makes me get too much sleep. Hope this helps.

I take Remeron at night. It helps me. I don't know anything about Risperdal. Good luck, Hanna!

Thanks guys. I really hope that I can sleep while on the risperdal. I've been sleeping so well on the seroquel...I'd hate to take a big step backward.

How much Risperdal did he tell ya to take? I used to take 4mg at night and slept pretty fairly on it. Almost got off it, but couldn't. Now I am back up to 2mg and still sleep fine. It's not a slightly drunk kinda sleep I used to get from Seroquel. It's the kind of sleep that sneaks up on me a few hours after I have taken it. I would advise you to take it two to three hours before you wanna sleep and see how it works for ya. That has always been my experience with it. Good luck with that hon. Hugs.

Good luck! I used to take 8mg of risperdal and slept like a stone tomb. How much Risperdal will you be on? (and how much seroquel do you take?)
HannaHana
I usually take 150mg of seroquel...I'm supposed to take 4mg of risperdal to help me sleep. I'll take 6mg if it works better, but I may have to suffer a night or 2 without sleep just to figure out what's going to work.

I don't know how hard you are to put to sleep, but I would start out with the 4mg maybe and work up from there. Better to start out with too little and titrate up than having nowhere to go if you start at the top. Sometimes less is more. I don't know who coined that phrase, but it is odd. Hmmmmm

Hopefully it won't take you too long to get settled. I wonder, what would happen if you went down on the seroquel and went up on the risperdal at the same time (like took 50s of the seroquel) and that way you might not go a single day without sleep (cause it will give you time to even out the risperdal dose?) No idea if that would work, though...

Zany- it was the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. :-)
ZanyBeeper
With a name like Ludwig, no fucking wonder!!!!! lol
deleted_user
Yeah, he probably wished he'd been name Bob.
ZanyBeeper
That's probably what he named his penis!! A COMMON name for a COMMON body part!!
deleted_user
It can't be that common, cause I don't have one. At least not the last time I checked *looks down pants*. Nope, still not that common!
HannaHana
Yeah, maybe I'll split these pills in half and try taking 1/2 seroquel, 1/2 risperdal. That's a good idea

Yeah, then by the time you are on 100% risperdal it won't be such a shock to your system?
