Hi BookMaven, If you have a cast, you should take a coat hanger and stretch it into the cast and just scratch like hell. If it's bandages, you should carefully pull the bandage back and scratch like hell. Because, well, we just can't have you going mad now can we?

Seriously? I have no idea what I'm talking about. Maybe the hanger inside the cast would be a bad idea. Instead just try banging it on the coffee table a few times and the vibrations should help a little.

One more little piece of shitty advice, I think it would be acceptable to type all you would like. At least as long as you are not crying In pain. In that case, I would stop.

do you have the itchies all over? Sometimes that's a side effect of certain anesthesias. Best to call your surgeon, just to be sure.

I had carpal tunnel surgery through a scope in both wrists at the same time. No stitches at all. Very cool approach. I had it done on a Friday and went back to work that Monday. I typed ok. As far as being it hie, you said you aren't taking pains meds? That makes me itch big time!!!!!

May your recovery be fast, easy & NOT itchy!! When I've had surgery on my wrists with sutures, it itched like crazy! Not when I took pain meds though --- they took over all my feelings. I agree with Lily - as long as you're not in pain (or going to be in pain) from typing, you're probably okay. Wishes for a QUICK recovery!! ((((Hugs))))

Typing may be at least limited as it often causes this syndrome... I would call the doctors office sweetie and let them know it's really bad and uncomfortable... There may be something that they can advise... I hope you heal quickly... Big hug for you ..xo

oh man, ok, so typing is ok. that's a relief. i'll deal with the itchies for the time being - though i don't need to be more mad than i already am. it's not a cast, more soft bandages, but it was scope surgery so i'm not exactly sure where the stitches are and i don't want to tear anything. i am going to slather my arms in lotion as soon as i am able though - gonna be two little greased pigs!!!!!!!!

again, no pain, just discomfort, so i think i'm going to heal ok. it's amazing what they can do with endoscopic and laproscopic surgery these days - an hour to a couple of hours, a tiny hole, a couple of stitches and voila you're finished!

i didn't know itchies could be caused by anaesthesia and/or pain meds nice of them to tell me that beforehand. hrmph. i also had to get easy off caps for all my psych meds because i couldn't open them - that was fun trying to explain that. finally i gave up and just waved my arms around - visuals seem to work for most people.

the surgeon said three weeks total for full healing which is good coz i have lots of packing left to do. and for now i can lift "nothing heavier than a gallon of milk"

right now, trying to sleep with arms elevated, yet comfortable is proving rather interesting. i'm sure i look really really weird with my arms all propped up above my head.
