I heard y'all got some pretty bad weather and yes, it is HOT!

But glad you all are ok.

Friday I set up 15 tables full of glass and other yard sale crap - 11:45pm, 60 mile hour winds - I'm out trying to save tables, and things blowing down the street. But the true fun was when the rain did follow the wind!!!!

Somehow I did well, and got a break kept power! Not one item broke, but by the time I dried and re-set up, LOL I was frustrated and tired.

Good news, all these people without power? Had nothing to do! So, I got a lot of good stories and customers I wouldn't have had!

In May of 2009 Southern Illinois had a freakish storm. They termed it an Inland Hurricane. I survived that storm. Tee shirts were printed up. I fared well and lost power for a few hours. I shop often and don't keep a freezer full of food. I was lucky. My friends directly hit with large wooded properties struggled with power loss and massive cleanup. A lot of people heat with wood burning stoves so there was no shortage of firewood. People sold large downed trees to logging companies.

My Mother home got some damage. she was w/o power. no A/C nor fans. Fri night my Brother went to check on her. He said that in dark,she answered the ft door in her bar/paintys & insurance policy in her hand. LOL. That's my mom.

Temps are suppose to lower for 2 dys this coming wk.

we have some like that out here in CA, more often in the fall and winter.

we have lots of trees and they just crash over into houses. the kind of trees here don't have deep root systems, it's scary.

last time we had a windstorm like that we had a giant oak tree branch or two fall, but our oaks are set up in a circle in the yard, and it fell in the middle where nothing was. thankful.

the outage went on for days the last time, but i managed to read a book. it was a good book too, one you may even like wiccan. i'll see if i can get the title for you.

all this weather is nuts, i really do pray and wish for everyone's safety.

we don't get the heat like that very often, sometimes though - maybe once or twice a year. then it's almost a blessing since we get many chillier days. but the climate is pretty much 'mediterranean' they say, so very grateful overall, indeed !

Yep, here too Will. We have been without power since Friday afternoon and they dont expect us to have ours until Wednesday late night. We have been running a generator and actually had to buy a larger one which was costly. We have been helping our neighbors do alot of clean up. Several behind us had trees fall on their house and noone can get to them until late next week. We are in the midst of another storm but we are not getting the worst of it in our city right now.

I pray for all those hit by these storms and most expecially the elderly and homeless in this horrid heat. At least we have food and shelter sweltering or not.......ugh!!!!!

We are in VA and without power since Friday night. It won't be on again till at least Wednesday night, and we live in a very sunny, poorly insulated house. I have the AC on in the winter sometimes. Anyway we have gone to West Virginia to be with relatives and a POOL. LOL.

I am jealous Halter, the heat is sweltering here. But I still remind myself that I have it made compared to some, actually many. No pool though. Two of my sons (19 and 27) got creative and made a slip and slide out of a long run of plastic, water, and a bit of dish soap, lmao. They had fun for a while but it was funny watching these two very tall adults laughing and sliding.

We still dont have power and I put sheets up on all the windows without blinds. I am working from home today because the power is out at our plant and office also. Hopefully hubs will decide to close it in this heat. The guys are used to it but we cant even weigh any scrap or payout so it seems senseless.

I wish everyone the best that have no electricity. It is amazing what we realize we do have when we dont have it...............its been a good lesson......xo

I coudln't imagine being without power, but further, I couldn't imagine being without water.
