I'm 38 and I still don't think I've made an adult purchase yet. My stuff is hand me downs or from a thrift store or a Christmas gift. I don't think ikea book shelves count, do they? Oh except some framed things for the walls. Those were very important investments. And dried eucalyptus.

Well if that's not the case, mine would probably be college text books. I think I have about 20, now, maybe a little less. You can rent them as well, but I'm forgetful and I love text books if they're worth reading, so I bought all mine. Some are used, though, so they costed (comparatively) less.

Other than that, contributing what I could towards bills.

I bought Radiohead's OK Computer Album and a CD single of The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' for my 18th Birthday! :)

of course book shelves count. where else would we put our precious books? I went into a furniture store with a friend after i gave birth to my daughter and saw this bookshelf. most of the things we had aready were second hand and given to us. I looked at it and looked at it and we both looked at it and talked about it. money was tight. eventually i said 'i don't know, i'll have to think about it' and we left the store. we walked about three paces when i said 'i've thought about it , i'm buying it! My friend fell around the place laughing at my version of 'thinking about it!'. I'm looking at it now at the end of my bed and it is stilll iin perfact condition and twenty two years old this year! i treasure it. one of my first 'grown up' purchases!

Yes I too thought you meant buying someting from an adult store lol. I bought my first dildo in college! My first adult purchase you are speaking of was in my late teens when I bought my first car. It was a juker but I was happy.

I really don't know. My memory is so terrible. Seriously something on my own with no credit? Not much. Guess that's why I'm still chasing my tail. Debt. We've had a revelation. Debt is bad. Who knew? Interest sucks you dry. But it was the '90's. Everything was "buy now, pay later". We were easy targets. We've learned since. Guess that's a bit OT. BUT this is what came to mind when I realized this wasn't about sex toys. LOL

A car when I was 17 and didn't get my license until I was 21, it sat in the driveway till I sold it a year later.
