OT/ Back from England

Just got back from a trip to England. Went to Leicester to see the reinterment of King Richard the 3rd. My friend got sick and was put in the hospital for 6 days. So, our trip didn't turn out exactly as planned, but ended up great.

Went to London for a week. Were going to go on a Bus tour, but missed it and stayed in London instead. I got to see so many wonderful things. England is amazing and I loved London. The people there are very nice and helpful.

This is the first time in a long, long time that I've really felt normal and happy.

For you who live in England, you are wonderful people and your country is beautiful.

Different experience from my view of England; especially as they love to make fun of the Americans. But, then, they kinda have the same issues as America.

I've only visited Manchester, Chester, Liverpool, Exeter and London. I'm saving up for a week in Toronto this coming September, so no trips to England for the time being.

I was in London for a month in 1955 when I was 6 years old. I've never been back but read the BBC News and Guardian every day. Like many parts of the world I've been in, the people are mainly pleasant. And why not? My paternal great-grandparents immigrated to the US from Sussex in the southwest of England.

I've never been but hope to go some day! I'm so glad you went and had a great time (except the bit about your travelling partner getting ill!). I'll bet you have a lot of travelling stories to share! My friend went for 2 months over the summer and had a wonderful time - spent a bit too much money but that's always hard to control!! I wish I remember where she travelled!

How wonderful for you to go! My hubby grew up there and we always talk about moving there permanently, after his kids grow up.

I visited London in the late 80's. My sister had been a resident for many years in the UK.

It was so good to have someone show us around who knew the " Off The Beaten Track " scenes

A real cockney here guv'. I was not quite born within the sound of Bow Bells just near there, but my granddad was an East ender from just outside the City and Bank area. Glad you enjoyed London. It has changed a lot over the years, but so have most cities. I do not live in London any more, but every time I go back I always get that magic feeling.
