Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Long story short:
Was dx over 2 years ago as suffering Bipolar II disorder. Developed anorexia and had to enter an ED unit where I met with another team of pschologists who basically took over my care and didn't want anything to do with my previous pdoc.
They changed they're minds and said I did not have Bipolar Disorder (although I still question this)
But one thing the psch doc said up there which made me question how much an Eating Disorder specialist knew about Bipolar was:
I was asked if I'd suffered any Hallucinations in the past which previously I had been told that I had.
When I was suffering severe anxiety I once saw 'a white figure' step out in front of a bus I was on and saw blood cover the front window. It was only the third time I re-opened my eyes that it had gone.
No my previous pdoc has told me this was a Hallucination but this other pdoc came out with a classic. Not only did she say this was not a true Hallucination, but that if it was a Hallucination they would have been looking at me being Schizophrenic not Bipolar!!?
So I don't know, am I right to be sceptical of her knowledge of BP?

Wishing you well, xx
I'm just quite annoyed at the fact that someone who obviously is specialised in EDs and NOT very well informed about other disorders can just have my dx changed. Plus take me off all my meds apart from one A.D.
Which because I DO know a lot about BP from when I was first dx, being on an AD alone without a mood stabiliser can make the cycles worse.
Sigh...
hallucinations before, when I've been manic. I hope you can manage to get them to NOT take you off the mood stabilizer.
Maybe somewhere that you could tell your story without feeling cornered.
It seems that yoo have been fobbed off by these people that can't give you a reliable clarity. They sound like they could be umming and aahing.
You want solid advice from experienced professionals that care about you.
All the best to you and I am sorry for the fragmented trip so far.
When you DO get good teams they are good. Power to you and keep on keeping on
