Ya know? It's freakin' hard to deal w/ BP sometimes...ok, almost all the time. I'm not in a great place as it is right now.

My son, 5 years old, ADHD, BP and ODD is, I swear, trying to drive me over the edge right now. Trying to break his toys...his sister's toys, denying anything and everything you say to him...stomping around the house, throwing things.

Earlier he had himself a complete breakdown and got seriously violent...I was kicked in the face, punched in the face, clawed at...so on, so forth.

How the hell am I supposed to take care of a child with so many issues, when I can't even take care of myself right now??

God, Help me!!

time out- go lie down or something? Distract him when he's acting up, if you can.

look at your child as yourself right now, hes obviously trying to express something that you might not understand, that he doesnt understand.

Try your best and be proud to be his mother.

(I have no children, so I dont know if this means anything)

My nephew was dx'ed with autism spectrum and hyperactivity. I know where you are coming from. I have those days when I want to throw a BP tantrum, and he seems to be in the same place. I have found that if I take a step back and breath for a moment I can collect myself enough to go back and deal with him. I am babysitting him today because he is sick. And he has been in rare form today. He is so cranky and off the wall. I hope this is helpful. Good luck.

Thanks...but I literally get attacked at every chance he gets...sure he's 5 and I'm bigger and stronger, but little guys sure are squirmy.

I've read that violent outbursts are common in younger BP paitents...do you have anything you can safey give him to calm him down?

It's not just me either...I have to stay vigilant to protect my daughter and the cats... and the general house.

I know he's got these issues and he's trying to express himself for whatever he's frustrated with, but it's not easy to try to comfort an aggressive and violent little person when you're just so far down in life at the moment.

He's probably just picking up my negative energy or something.

I have to wait til 7pm...then he gets his clonidine, it'll be easy after that.

Keep telling myself...just another 1 hour 15 minutes.

Does your school system have a Behaviorist to come to your home and give you tips. They deal with behaviors and can help you out trmendously. You can also hire one yourself. Behavior Therapist Board Certified Behavior Anylist

He could very easily be picking up on your negative energy. Try and take a moment to sit and calm down. I know it's hard to cheer yourself up at times like this. Hang in there honey.

Some times on the brink i would sit with mine on the floor and it helps...let him just run around and around and then hed come and sit or interact. Sometimes i give in a bit with the icecream or whatever to take the tension out of the situation.

He's got an IEP for school...he's got a pdoc, a tdoc, a behavioral specialist...meds.

I'm trying my best to keep my distance, but be involved enough to keep him from hurting himself or anyone else.

I refuse to allow people into my house. There are issues in this household (aside from my BP) that I cannot change and I know they affect him. I don't need specialists to come in and tell me that it needs to change.
