Hi All,
I am in bad need of advice. For almost one year, I have suffered from obsessive thoughts mostly as a result of jealousy. When I stop and think about it, I know that I am being unreasonable, but in the moment, my thoughts consume me and I can't think of anything else. I've already lost a good friend as a result - she told me my jealousy towards her was unreasonable and unfounded. I have reasons why I am jealous and in the moment they make sense to me, but later I realize they are irrational.
I have done everything I could. I see a professional therapist, saw a pdoc, tried talking about it with other friends, tried to do other things to take my mind off it. I am even working two jobs now while going to school full time. Nothing works. Even when I am at work, I can't think of anything else other than my obsessive thoughts.
I want to be friends with the person I am jealous of . Especially because we used to be best friends and super close. But I can't be friends with her while at the same time feeling these obsessive thoughts. Any advice?

Have you been in a cognitive type of therapy?.. this will work on helping you to change negative thinking patterns...understand them while they're happening and give you some tools to start to respond differently..x

If you post on the general BP board you'll get more responses..

This is not advice so much as identifying with your problem. My husband is doing the same thing. No matter how much I talk to him and reassure him, when he's manic, he's hacking into my phone, emails, computer and swearing he's videotaped me or has emails & voicemails proving I'm cheating or talking to my ex-husband (who I do have to communicate with a few times a year regarding our son) Of course I'm never doing anything to betray my husband or our marriage, but he'll insist he can prove it but doesn't. We've been to a psychologist together and he's goneon his own, but nothing changes, that paranoia and jealousy is just part of his mania. I hope you find a way to get past that, and if you do, pass on what helps you! Good luck!

I am sorry I can't offer any advice but what Cloud suggested - CBT - Sounds like a good idea. I think you are doing a good thing by distracting yourself by working two jobs and studying. I would have thought that would help?

No more jealousy, it is a mindset and a thought can be changed. Hugs

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
