Last year I had Medicare but this year I am a little over qualified. My son and I don't have insurance right now. I filled out the application that Dept. of Human Services sent to see if we qualify for other insurance but I didn't get a reply from them.

If you are on Social Security Disability and lower income, you would still get Medicaid Spend Down even if you make too much money, so I think somebody is steering your wrong.
It is easier to go down in person than call, and I would start with your County Child and Family Services, then Social Security Office if you are on Social Security Disability.
