I want to come off Sodium Valproate and Olanzapine as I have gained 15 kilos and i hate it. Can anyone recommend mood stabilisers that dont put on weight?
I will keep taking prozac and lithium in the meantime, but my pdoc will be concerned re lapsing into manic without sufficient mood stabilisers.
I would rather be thin and manic than fat and depressed.

lamictal is weight neutral.. as is abilify

hi...i was cosidering having my meds changed due to the fact ive gained 60lbs since ive been on meds and had spinal tumor removal surgery nov 1st last year...so far, here's what ive come up with
..i did some research on different meds trying to figure out which ones make you either gain, lose or cause loss of appitite: Geodon,Seroquel,Litium,Prozac,Abilify, Resperidone and Zoloft are weight gainers...Wellbutrin,Lamictal,Haldol are weight loosers...Celexa,Gabapentin,Depakote,Risperidol make you have a loss of appitite...Leprexa showed no weight gain...keep in mind, I just researched these drugs on Webmd.com hope it helped and thank you for your post
