I was diagnosed as having Major Depression in 1994. Then my doctor changed my diagnosis to bipolar disorder about 8 years ago and I went on disability (until I'm 65 and I'm 53 now). Of course I read up on bipolar and I basically decided that the doctor was wrong because when I feel "manic" it takes the form of simply having a productive day (like finally doing the laundry) which I feel really good about (and that only happens about once every two months or so) and otherwise I almost always have a very low mood with no energy, a negative attitude and severe anxiety. That being said, I was recently hospitalized to get on new medications and a different doctor confirmed that I was definitely bipolar but didn't say more than that. Shouldn't my "mania" be a lot more pronounced if I'm really bipolar? Not that I want it to but I simply don't understand my condition, I need education. I don't know what is a symptom or not, what category of bipolar I am, I don't understand a lot of things. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

Here is a Wikipedia article on Bipolar Disorder that should clear up your questions:

This is a great site... I'm glad you're here.... Big hug.....x
I get agitated, irritable, feel rage, have racing thoughts.
I agree with the other posts, you need to do some research on BP. WebMD and Mayo Clinic websites are good to start with.

Research as much as you can - it really helps to have a firm understanding about your disorder. It helps in therapy and in day-to-day life.
Good luck!
I was never labeled BP 1 or BP 2.
I get depressed quite easily, though it only last for a day or so.
Every few years I go into a big depression which lasts for weeks.
I have many symptoms: cognitive impairment especially concentration and memory, anger, irritability, negative outlook, I cry and laugh uncontrollably and can't stop, I'm scared of social situations, I dread having things I have to leave the house to do, I have severe anxiety accompanied by panic attacks, I'm desperately depressed a lot of the time and moderately depressed for the rest except the rare instances where I'm able to do some job in the house of epic proportions (to me) or when I have to leave the house to run errands. It seems to others that I'm just procrastinating but I'm not, it's my condition. Sleep eludes me and I dread the nights too. I take a bunch of meds for this and I really feel like I should feel a bit more even by now. I'll tell the doc that too. Well, I've got to go to bed. Night all.
