Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Hello,
I hope that all of you are (kind of) fine.
I was diagnosed last March-April during a trip to a psychiatric hospital. Since then life has become so complex and my relationship with my psychiatrist are not the best one could dream of. She believes that I'm just depressive and gave me antidepressants... well let's say that it's 100% sure that I'm bipolar.
Currently in an excited state but suffering due to a withdrawal from antidepressants, I slowly slide to what seems a mixed state. Hence the idea of joining a support group as I might find help from other people who suffer from the same disease as me and I do secretely hope that I will be helpful to somebody.
Thank you for this board, I wish to befriend all of you!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I would ask to be referred to another psychiatrist for a second opinion perhaps?
Big hug.... xo
If you were diagnosed as bipolar as a result of being hospitalized how come your psychiatrist now says you are unipolar depressed?
Sorry for my absence. Life has been a litteral hell these last weeks : I'm suffering from serotonin withdrawal and luckily enough I was in an elated state (not to say "high"). But my psychiatrist failed me so bad... didn't have enough antidepressants to go on and she didn't even give me a new prescription!
To reply to your questions, yes I'm currently trying to find a new psychiatrist.
As for my psychiastrist seeing me as an unipolar patient, it was due to the fact that Seroquel (Quetiapine) wasn't really helpful in my case : it just broke me down to a zombifiied version of myself.
Thanks you all for your sympathy and friendship!
Alas my life is going downward, we'll see if I'll make it.
