My mom has had a hell of a year. Pretty much 7 surgeries in 14 months. 3 for cancer and 4 for a pacemaker gone horribly awry.

They found a mass (greater than 3cm in radiology terms) in her lung about a month ago. She had an initial chest xray and then a ct. I work at a cancer center giving radiation treatments and doing ct scans. It looks to be infection or inflammation. In January they made us an appointment with a pulminologist for MARCH. Anyway they put her on antibiotics because shehada plural effusion and pneumonia in that lung recently and we get a follow up chest xray this Thursday. I have a feeling whatever was there is still not fully resolved so that more than likely mean a ct guided biopsy. I'm just tired of her being poked and prodded and hurt....dammit.

I know as a health care worker we need to know what it is so we can try and make it better. Antibiotics won't work in fungal pneumonia etc. But enough! I'm secretly freaking out because if it is a cancerous mass that would mean it has grown in 3 months and that indicates a very aggressive form of lung cancer called oat cell/small cell.

Just say a prayer or send good vibes that this is something we can fix.

She is my world and best friend. She's my hero. She will be 56 this March and frankly I'm pretty sure I can't take anymore.i feel so selfish saying that...but I'm barely hanging on.
