have you asked him why he gets angry? It's a common male thing to get angry when a woman cries - I suspect many feel it's their fault or become frustrated because they can't fix it Maybe that's something you could talk to him about?
Gentle support, whichever way you take it, Jennifer. Keep sorting. Your answers are in there.
A further thought I had - if he is dependant on you he may be afraid you will need to go away and he won't have anyone to look after him.
Have you thought about going to a meeting with his Therapist and talking about how you express your emotions, where he is in a safe place with someone he knows and can help explain to him that not everyone expresses emotion the same and just because your crying it doesn't mean one set particular thing. They can also explain and help him understand that in those instances he should have compassion vs. anger.
Because most likely this is truly something he just does not understand. His emotional brain does not work the same as yours and it's not always easy to explain things in a way that makes sense so he can understand the difference between people without using words like "normal" or "regular".
Hold on : ) Sometimes that's the best we can do
She gets it and her stress relief is to get back to her norm asap.
