My sister hasn't spoken to me since my diagnosis and I told her about it. She's been funny since I was diagnosed with BPD and refused to give me her home number so she used to ring me. Then when I was diagnosed with bipolar she has stopped talking to me altogether. I call her mobile as that is all I have and she wont answer. She is 19yrs older than me and we have always been pretty close. I just dont understand. All I can assume is that she thinks I am like dad who committed suicide as he was suffering bipolar. Just feeling very empty
I'm sorry you're having a rough patch in your relationship with your sister. Sadly, I don't have any sisters so I don't know first hand what it could be like. I do have three daughters and I have had the honor of seeing what sister relationships can be like.
What's going on in your sister's life? Perhaps she's just gotten re-occuppied with something else for the time being.
Or perhaps she's scared and feels awkward given your family history. Do you have an alternative way to contact her? Send flowers and a message? Write a letter explaining how much you love and miss her? Go visit her.
I hope you can work this out. I know when my girls were little I had one punishment I reserved for very serious offenses and that was to separate them and not allow them to be together. OMG .... that just about killed them. Hang in there!
