Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
so this is about him not me for once.
He’s currently in one of his manic phases. Really cold towards me gets aggitated one minute then is his goofy happy self the next. He just sits and stares at his phone but if I try to have a talk with him he shuts down. He’s in one of those phases where he buys a lot of things we don’t need.
i know he’s been formally diagnosed with bipolar but since I got diagnosed I really think he has borderline personality disorder too. He’s told me before he’s afraid of being alone and I’ve tried to leave him before because he can be a liar and manipulative I’ve learned his games. He would post public Facebook posts of him driving 100mph down the highway and saying he’s going to run into a tree and showed me that he cut his arm open when. I left...
i did go back. Now I’ve just been dealing with his ups and downs and I think both our problems intertwine and when they both hit it’s bad.
Like the Eminem’s song love the way you lie this quote from it describes me and him to a T. “Now I know we said things
Did things
That we didn't mean
And we fall back
Into the same patterns
Same routine
But your temper's just as bad
As mine is
You're the same as me
But when it comes to love
You're just as blinded
Baby please come back
It wasn't you
Baby it was me
Maybe our relationship
Isn't as crazy as it seems
Maybe that's what happens
When a tornado meets a volcano
All I know is
I love you too much”
Im not making light of the situation I just never realized how toxic we are together when both our metal illness comes up. My borderline and depression and anxiety and his untreated bipolar.
its hard now because I’m getting treatment and he’s not so he’s getting worse when I’m better.
I guess this post is just realizing how toxic we are to each other. I know I’ve been manipulative towards him with the same things he did in the past. But we aren’t like this everyday some days we are that perfect couple.
its like our illnesses get synced up and explode.
i guess I want some advice on how others deal with spouses who have other mental illnesses

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

or
you can use your brain, and keep treating your illnesses and simply tell him, when you start getting treatment if you think our relationship can be rebuilt, call me.
There is no shame, guilt, or fault on you. You can walk away regardless of the treat or guilttrip. He's an adult and he knows he needs treatment, he's refusing to get treatment, that's not on you. Its 100% completely on him. And hanging around a disaster to see just how bad its going to get is rather....self-destructive on your part.
You have to make a choice. You can't fix him, sorry. I hope you make the right choice.
Take care,
Kat
I would be there to support him if he's willing to get help however I would not continue down a toxic path..... I know this isn't easy..... Gentle hug and a blessing.... I hope that he's willing to get some help.....xo
I don't think you are going to be able to do this. Until he gets help this isn't going to stop. I agree with you that this sounds like borderline.
