Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I remember how much I thought I had bipolar, I honestly still go happy sad happy sad happy sad every once in a while, not even realizing I’m doing it half the time. It runs pretty bad in our family, just any mental illnesses, really. My parents both take medicine, my mom’s bipolar and so is her dad, my grandfather. Things like that. I remember telling the doctor how my mood would go like that (I wrote a note, talk about how nervous I was), if it was just me being a teenager or whatever. Someone I talked to at the time recommended I do it, so I did. I got put on medicine, pretty much made me worse.. my mom said it never worked for her either, so. I mean honestly, I feel like I never really was myself after that. Nothing was wrong, yet I was just sad and I remember someone I knew would just roll their eyes at me, saying I had nothing to be sad about, which I mean, at the time it was true. I actually feel quite sad now, but I’ll get through it. They’d probably still bug me about that, but I mean, you can’t let those people get to you. ;p I’m just very glad my mom’s ok, though. She does have bipolar, she’s been through a lot, and well takes medicine for it and she’s happy now. We’ll all be there someday. Not just my mom, but anyone having bipolar issues, I look up to you as well to get through it all. Though it can be really tough, I just wouldn’t be taking medicine like my parents have to... I tried once, but didn’t want to go on more after that, I’ve seen what it can do, saying that my family is on lots of medications. I would recommend using it as a last resort to your problems, not even with bipolar, just anything.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I'm not sure that is what you are saying so I am checking before replying fully.
This is a good site though and a good place to make friends..... there are teen boards as well...... Big hug......xo
Going on this or any other Mental Health Illness Support Board and saying,
" I would recommend using it (medicine) as a last resort to your problems, not even with bipolar"
is not just inaccurate advice, but as I said it can be dangerous advice. There are people who read posts and do crazy things that people write, and there are psych meds that can make you very, very sick if you just decide to stop them cold turkey.
You are a 14 yr old child with very little experience in BiPolar, as your not even old enough to be Clinically Diagnosed with it, since your Brain has not finished developing and the parts that need to be developed for a BiPolar DX have a good 5 more years to grow. You have very little experience with Psych medications or the Treatment plans for BiPolar. Those of us who've dealt with this Disease for like 28 years, know that the only way to treat BiPolar is to take medications and go to Therapy and work our Treatment Plans so that we can get to a stable point in life. We know that we have a Disease that is not curable but is treatable with daily medications and Therapy, so we do that so we have a life, get married, have kids, have a career, all those normal things.
If you're going to give out advice on a Support Board, especially one like this, please, for goodness sake, make sure the advice your giving is accurate.
I hope that your Mom is doing well in the management of her BiPolar Disorder.
