Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
FEEL FREE TO ADD YOUR OWN! (with or without links included, but why not add a link if you're going to add a song... or two, or three, or four? I'll start us off, I suppose.)
I'm going to do the songs I've been listening to *the very most recently* in order of
-Metal and all of its subgenres.
(I've been listening to Pig Destroyer a lot and they're a grindcore band) (I'm a prog snob and wouldn't touch most "grindcore" bands with a 10-foot pole, but Pig Destroyer pretty much saved my life and some of their songs are so beautiful that they almost bring me to tears.) (Also a lot of Septic Flesh, which sounds like a grindcore band but... You'll see. One of their songs in particular stands out to me because the vocals remind me of Ronnie James Dio at one point.)
(And one Red Hot Chilli Peppers song, because it's pretty much my favorite song other than the two Pig Destroyer songs I will be posting and the Septic Flesh song.)
And then move into
-Beautiful female vocal songs, romantic and whimsical songs.
-And one or two fun ones. And a couple random ones as well.
Sound good? Good. Let's begin. Feel free to finish what I started in the comments section below!)
1) Septic Flesh- Annubis [sic- Anubis?]. This is the one where the dude goes from death metal growls to Ronnie James Dio vocals like it ain't no 'thang. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFkkSDIkA4Y
2) Melvins- Lizzy
This would fall under both metal and "old but gold". Early 90s I think? And the genre is basically the precursor to both "grunge" and stoner doom.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0vxVeGjTgo
3) Pig Destroyer- Natasha (my current favorite song, it's technically a 37-minute-long album, but I sob to it, it's so beautiful. If you look up the lyrics, there's a twisted story behind it. Fictional, of course. I would think.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr2uhjuG-rs
4) Pig Destroyer- Starbelly (trigger warning, the lyrics are a literal suicide note. the dude's still here though, thank gosh.)
"There were mortal wounds inflicted on the sky,
And incrminating blue stains on my shirt.
The shirt you bought for me.
Christ, it hurts.
Like stars in my belly going supernova." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3PU0JgAvF0
5) and 6) are Pig Destroyer's albums "Phantom Limb" and "Terrifyer". Be careful if you wanna go look up "Terrifyer", the album artwork is... erotic, to say the least. No links because I already linked to two Pig Destroyer songs.
7) Opeth- Would (as in the Alice In Chains song, it's a cover.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inpbS2JpMRA
8) Misþyrming - Söngur Heiftar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80D4JwpeJGU
9) Y.O.B. The Illusion Of Motion (one of my favorite new metal albums, by one of my favorite new metal bands.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nJFnz-VDNE
10) Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Scar Tissue (I've been playing this over and over and over ad nauseum) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAZfC0epjz4
11) Lizzo- Phone (this is the "just for fun" song, it's catchy as hell.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zZzn-KxeRI
Sensual/Romantic/Whimsical/Beautiful songs (all kind of disorganized and lumped together, but whatever)
12) Dearly Beloved from the Kingdom Hearts II OST (just a beautiful orchestral song that puts me in a pleasant mood.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG1pRNQAByI
13) Flume- Left Alone featuring Chet Faker (Ta-Ku remix) (be VERY CAREFUL opening this link if you're at work, it isn't pornographic or anything, but the music video for the song is very uhh... sexy? I think? Yea. Be careful about that.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85Yhf_j3SS8
14) Mazzy Star- Fade Into You (old AND romantic) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uJ61jgFCMM
15) Paradise Circus- Massive Attack featuring Hope Sandoval (aka "Mazzy Star") (also it's sampled from The Smashing Pumpkins' song "Soma") https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEgX64n3T7g
16) Portishead- Roads https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQYsGWh_vpE
16) Solange Knowles- Cranes In The Sky (she has the voice of an angel) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0qrinhNnOM
17) Tokimonsta- The World Is Our's (a very, very romantic, beautiful, soulful song) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qn5MRov_OI
18) Drill- What You Are (romantic in the rawest, most honest of ways) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow4S5jetaDY
19) Tasseomancy- Heavy Sleep https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3k80o2pYeM
20) Zhu- Faded (this song never gets old for me) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwWzSyxNc9I
21) The Youngsters- Equestrian Muppet Idol (I don't have a link because it isn't on Youtube, but search around on European torrent sites if you're really curious. Strange as it sounds, it's just a pleasant, minimalist electronica song.)
22) Ty Dolla $ign- Zaddy (I DON'T KNOW WHY I LIKE THIS SONG SO MUCH, IT'S A SONG THAT I WOULD THINK I'D LOATHE, BUT I LOVE IT) (lyrics are not safe for work) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pAoC-DWNfs
Annnnnnnnd that's about it for me. I'm curious to see what songs'll end up in the comments below. What are you guys listening to these days?
-
Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.
