Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I also had to take Prednisone, and I also had to stop because of the terrible moods. However, if I keep my other health problems at bay with medication that don't interact, my mood problems are managable without mood meds.
I still struggle with rage, mania, and anxiety at times, but unless I am getting to a dangerous level (self-destructive, suicidal, violent, ect) I try to consider my other health problems first.
It requires a special balance that is still hard to find because when your mood starts to get worse, the stress can exacerbate your health and vice-versa.
I hope you can find the right meds combo for you and your specific problems.

The bad news is that mania is also listed as a short-term side effect.

The other day, my pdoc told me that we should discuss my pain medication next time I come in as he said it has seratonin inhibiting properties and it could be making my depression and mood swings harder to treat.
I also have insomnia and anxiety and take meds on occasion for that too, which tend to bring me down a bit.
