so i obviously need mood stabilisers, i cant get any more unstable at the minute my mood fluctuates from hypomania/depression within weeks and months and the cycles are getting more intense and more regular.
the period of normality between each episode is becomming shorter and shorter. so
i have a CPN. FINALLY.
community psychiatric nurse, seems that the adult mental health service has come to the conclusion after 2 years that i am actaully mentally ill.
blind ?
how do i convince this nurse that i actually really do need stabilising medication because its been mentioned for years.
and ive gone years on just prozac and that surely is no good.
ive been diagnosed BPD.
2 year waiting list. i still dont think i have this illness lol.
my question is.
do mood stabilisers actually stabilise you ? or do they make you feel nothing.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

depakote made me a zombie... I believe the blunting of emotion can be quite significant for some people.... unfortunately it's trial and error
good luck x
if there is no possible way of getting a stabiliser i have no idea what i will do. i know it is necessary at this point now,
thanks for the responses x
It is possible to be medicated and not feel dead too....I am living proof of that!!! *smile*
I thought you were unsure about your DX ?
A nurse certainly can not DX you, or prescribe meds either .
BPD..Boarderline Disorder, is not always treated with mood stabilizers.
Maybe you are putting the horse before the cart ?
Get a proper DX before deciding which meds you think you need.
Good luck sweetie, I know you are working on getting this all settled
There are obvious and clear distinctions between me and my symptoms and that associated with bpd I've only been given that label because it means they don't have to do anything
The nurse can advise the dr after getting to know me on what she thinks would be a good plan of action
I don't think they know what they're doing to be fair
I used Lithium for 23 years off and on and thought it was great. Now I've switched to Tegretol for the last 3 months and it's freakin awesome, and it has less side effects than Lithium.
So just talk to your Pdoc or Pdoc nurse about them and see what works for you. Remember the first one may not work perfect, it may take a trial or two, so don't give up okay.
