Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I finally figured out that methotrexate from my RA was triggering it. I found a good gynaecologist m, who put me on a daily Provera pill for 2 years which dried me out permanently.
But the good news, as my hormones diminished, so did my bipolar 1. I started taking less & less psych meds, finally got off all of them. I still had a few ups & downs, but now, almost 10 years later, I am mostly stable. Except for being on prednisone, which is a hormone!
My pdoc said that older women either get their bipolar improved at menopause, or get much worse. So, watch yourself. My pdoc thought I was getting worse for a few years, and I probably was! But once the hormones died, I improved a lot. So, you can look forward to improving, I hope!
