i have taken meds for long periods of time in the past. they never seemed to stabilize me, if anything they zonked me out and i had no idea what was going on around me. i am now not taking my meds. in some ways i find it better, in other ways not. maybe i haven't found the perfect balance yet.

I, finally, after two years would consider myself stable. Still not the old me but at least able to function in this cruel world. I take my meds without missing a single dose.

i've been on and off meds for over 7 years now, nothing has seemed to work, till now and even just talking about it scares me, i actually feel "stable", safe, and its been almost 3 months, thats a long time for me with the med's, so im holding on tight and remembering to take them when there suppose to b tooken@@@

You are asking the 50 million dollar questian...do we ever attain stability...
Will the shuffle of changing meds ever slow down...
For me ,it was Litium,I was on it the longest ,about 18 mo.Then the kidneys said NONONO.I didn't FEEL that great on Litium,but the last 18 mo of trying to stabilize ,has really worn me out,phyically and emotionally

It took me 8 years to step out of the river of Denial and start taking my meds. Been 8 years since then and I now take them every day, regardless. I have had to had my meds adjusted a few times. Have been having the most difficulty since having my daughter 20 mos. ago. Hard enough with unstable brain chemistry - add hormones and EEeeegads! :) Going to see Pdoc tomorrow and hopefully we'll start on an upswing.
Unfortunately, finding that right balance can take a long while. And, sometimes (in my case) our bodies don't work with a medicine after a while. It's not an easy road. But, there is hope (thank GOD!).

i havent i hate meds. my brain tells me to stop taking them and so i listen and do it. then ill start them again when i go mental.

I might miss 2 doses a week. It's more than i would like, but I do my best. I've been on Lithium for about 3 years. I'm definitely not stable.

i take my meds as prescribed and have finally been pretty stable for the last few months. i have been on several meds before which did not do what they were supposed to... im glad i kept trying though.. its paying off now that i feel better

you know, i was thinking about this post second time around... as far as stability. its funny, when i am on meds my husband says that i am more "stable." thing is, i DONT FEEL stable. so i don't know if that is a good thing or bad, or why it even feels that way.

Ive been trying for a year. It seems like just as I think one is working, it stops....

Last yr I was stable for 8 months. I always take my meds, rarely forget a dose. I went off the Lexapro because of side effects, got depressed, and haven't been able to kick the depression yet. But I had 8 good months.
