Part IX.... I'm flying out of Auckland, New Zealand tomorrow to Sydney, Australia and spending a few days with my Sister and her family there, before flying off to the Manila to reunite with my love Maria in the Philippines.

Maria and I have kept in contact almost everyday since we last saw each other 3 months ago. This has given us time to think what we wanted out of our relationship and to plan the next step if we were indeed to continue. Maria now realizes the importance of keeping a few steps ahead of ourselves with our long distance relationship especially when immigration is involved. I have convinced her that I would not be doing what I have been doing unless I was sure that she was the one for me. I have been sure about this since almost the beginning and I was just waiting for Maria to understand just how serious I am about our relationship, and for her to make some sort of commitment with me.

This year was a leap year, and on February 29th when I joked that it was tradition that women could ask men to marry them, she actually popped the question. I was in disbelief and thought she was joking but she confirmed that she was serious and of course I accepted the proposal.

Since then, we have informed family members and Maria's Mama has giving us her blessing. We plan to marry in the Philippines within the 2 months I am there before Maria and I fly back to Australia as a married couple.

Maria's Mama is helping to organize the requirements for us to be legally married leaving Maria to concentrate on what she wants for our wedding day. From my side of the family, my sister is the only one that is in the position to be at the wedding since it is so far away. I've tried to tell them not to worry about it and we can just have a small celebration when we get back from Australia if that's what they want. We are still working out those details, but as for me, I'm just making sure Maria will turn up on the day, I mean there can't be a wedding without a bride or a groom for that matter.

We have made many plans for our future and we really are sealing the deal by getting married. This is a very exciting time for us, personally I am so ready for this and look forward to going through life with Maria as my wife.
