Hello everyone. I'm really new to the Bipolar information and have not been confirmed I'm Bipolar. My last session we were talking about it because I had several days of an extreme high and then a really bad low.
Now I seem to be going through an extreme high, hyper stage, but also very depressed. One minute I seem somewhat okay, and like just now I had a complete meltdown where I feel I could actually kill myself.
Is this part of the manic? How long do manic phases last. I am assuming it varies but is it days, weeks?
I also think some of my symptoms are being heightened by the Risperedone.

Had Hypo phase for six months Mania is usually shorter.

I think the length of time varies from person to person. For me my manias lasted until I was in the hospital about 4 months, then they were followed by devestating depressions where suicide felt like a good option. I think you should talk this over with a good doc, you could have rapid cycling bipolar where the ups and downs are faster and more frequent. But for me my phases last months and sometimes even years. Hope that helps you a bit

I go through depression for a couple weeks to a couple months. And usually that's when the suicide sinks in. I've tried suicide twice, obviously it didn't work. My manic stages go for a couple weeks. I can't concentrate, and can't hold still. Don't sleep much. I feel like every inch of my bieng is one with the universe. I'm new to this Bipolar thing as well. Me and you, and a million other people. It's just nice to know I'm not the only one.

I've taken Risperedone, didn't help. Made me worse. My hallucinations and paranoia during my manic stages escalated. TALK TO YOUR DOC ABOUT SWITCHING!

My mania last a couple weeks. Some are faster though. My mom was a rapid cycler. She changed from hour to hour. try to calm down. If you have it you have it. Now you will just know what it is and you will be working on getting better.

It all depends upon what type of Bipolar you are. I am BipolarI with mixed and rapid cycling but I've had a manic phase last for months. I'm a friggin pro! I've had virtually every permutation of mania there is!! LOL! But I will say it needs to be undersupervision of a pdoc. That is the best way to determine your diagnosis. Just keep yourself under observation.

i can go through high and lows in days

i can also get stuck in a mixed too where you cant quite work out where you are

best advice would be to see your doc xx

thank you for the input.
I think I started another manic state on Tuesday.
I will see my pdoc this coming Wednesday for a check on meds and updates on my symptoms.
I think the risperedone is fucking me up too much. as I come down off the high it gives me the manic symptoms are much worse.
