How do you know when your starting a manic episode..
For me I was fine with staying up 24hours and barely tired.
I have cut my own hair short and painted my nails which I never do because I have to look professional for work..and I can't stop talking

I'm not sure how to describe it. I get all tingly inside. My mind starts racing. I talk a lot, I try to do a dozen task at once.

I just cut my hair really short! I just can't settle..

That sounds about right in my experience. One thing we can count on mania is never ending well.

For me it's like I have this shot of intense caffeine raging throughout my body and my brain is going a million miles a minute and I'm bouncing off the walls and no matter what I do, I can't settle down.

For me, I notice it when I start to get productive...TOO productive. It's taken a lot of practice to learn when I'm simply having a good productive day and when I'm going overboard. Part of the hint is I get overly excited about my productivity and not simply proud of myself.

Yeah I cut my hair very short during a manic stage, just hacked it off at 3am one night. It was liberating. Usually I experience a rapid increase of energy, get happy racing thoughts. I find everything to be fascinating and have a ton of interests but no ability to concentrate or follow through. I enjoy the mania, its a break from the winter depressions.

I though excessive hair cutting was associated with Post-Natal Depression? :|

Well, once it was bad enough that I got married...lol. Usually wanting to buy everything and not needing sleep; cleaning and organizing, and getting overly sensitive about everything.

Definitely hypersexuality, its one of the frustrating traits of mania and difficult for those who are single and not willing to have random one night stands. I also notice I tend to wear very colorful clothes when manic, and top it off with extremely bright makeup. I cringe thinking of last summer and my obsession with neon orange and fuchsia lipstick. At the time it seemed like a perfect idea.
